Hero & Clone News
There are many new products available
mimicking the remarkable Guitar Hero game. Are they up to the task?
You can check out that new Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker
in the Media
Room. The brief video shows the small belt buckle device.
You'll also find an Associated Press video review of Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band (which
looks amazing).
For more in depth information, see the News Center .
The new Guitar
Wizard combines a real
guitar with the video game - which means you are actually
learning to play a guitar while gaming. More information available in
the News Center.
Frets On Fire
is an open source freeware Guitar Hero pc clone that has several
advantages/disadvantages. The disadvantages are it isn't as stable,
pretty, nor is there any warranty of any kind. The advantages
are:
- freeware means it is totally FREE
- open source means program is being constantly
customized by large user community
- constantly expanding (currently HUGE) song library
- your existing Red Octane (most guitar hero) guitar
controller
works perfectly (minus the whammy)
- the ability to add
your favorite songs to the game
- low pc hardware requirements
The Frets
on Fire section contains links for to the Frets On Fire
forum where you can download the program, any mods (learn to mod
yourself), songs (learn to make your own) and meet a bunch of
Frets On Fire (and Guitar Hero) fanatics.
Red Octane
has entered into a partnership with NAMM
( the Internation Music Products Industry Trade Association). The
"Wanna Play" campaign promotes the playing of real musical
instruments. Further information is in the News Center.
